Please join us for Driving Fitness, Health, & Aging: Considerations for Safe Mobility on Wednesday, November 6th at 2:00 p.m. in OceanView’s Lunt Auditorium (74 Lunt Road, Falmouth, ME).
Dr. Tom Meuser will share his perspectives on how changes in cognitive, sensory, and functional health may impact driving fitness. The concept of “readiness” for driving retirement will be reviewed in context of a self-assessment exercise. He will also share Maine’s approach to assessing driver fitness and discuss experiences among participants.
Dr. Meuser is a clinical psychologist, gerontologist, and social scientist. He retired, recently, as the Founding Director of the UNE Center for Excellence in Aging & Health (2018-2024). Earlier in his career, he led the team which put in place Missouri’s medical review process for driving fitness. He is presently under contract with the Maine BMV to evaluate its medical program to enhance safety on Maine roadways. Tom also serves older adults and their families as a neuropsychologist through GeroPsych Maine LLC.
