WHIPPLE FARM
Spacious, customized homes adorn this historic hillside property, creating a unique neighborhood of terraced rock walls, gorgeous gardens and varied floorplans. Each home is nestled at different levels on the hill, enhanced by its own unique landscape plan.
In 2003, OceanView’s owner, John Wasileski, purchased the historic Whipple Farm property, also know as the “old Joshua Merrill homestead,” and a site plan was developed consisting of 42 homes.
Construction began in the summer of 2005 with the first residents customizing their homes and moving in during 2006. The picturesque view of the original 1756 saltbox has been preserved with the dedication of 5 acres of conservation land; it houses the Whipple Farmhouse Restaurant and is used as an event and activity space. A beautiful, 4-season heated saltwater pool complements the Whipple Farm neighborhood, along with locker rooms and a community room for the enjoyment of all OceanView residents.
Four basic floor plans have been modified and expanded to include such options as sunrooms, lofts, basements, gas fireplaces and screened in porches. The exterior architecture maintains the character of the colonial era, including dormers, decorative center chimneys, and cedar clapboards and shingles in period colors.
