OceanView Funds Friends School Solar Energy Expansion

OceanView proudly continues its partnership with the Friends School of Portland in funding the purchase of an additional 286 solar panels that have been installed atop the school’s new expansion.

Work on our new, state-of-the-art Fitness Pavilion is coming along well. After having the concrete foundation poured for the underground parking garage, steel beams are being placed, giving shape to this exciting undertaking!

Resident is 26th Recipient of the Boston Post Gold Cane

Myron was one of the first residents to move into OceanView when it first opened over 33 years ago. We are so honored to have had him be a part of our community as it’s grown over the years. Yesterday, the Town of Falmouth bestowed The Boston Post Gold Cane upon Myron in recognition for being the oldest living resident currently in the town! Falmouth House Grand Reopening Celebration

OceanView residents, family, friends, and community members raised a glass in celebration of the completion of Falmouth House’s renovation and expansion! 10 new apartments were added, including beautiful end units with water views, walk-in closets and eating nooks. Larger, spacious floor plans were designed to meet the increasing demand for the accommodation of couples.

OceanView Resident Launches Boat Built in His Cottage

Several years before moving to OceanView, Tom and Alice sold their 45-foot sailboat, mostly because it was becoming difficult to find crew to sail with. He became interested in building a new type of boat after seeing a video. “It looked fairly easy to sail by myself, and could carry two or three other people. Plus, I just loved the design.” As he and his wife, Alice, planned their move to OceanView into a brand-new, customized Schoolhouse Cottage, he had their new cottage built with a full workshop in the daylight bSeveral years before moving to OceanView, Tom and Alice sold their 45-foot sailboat, mostly because it was becoming difficult to find crew to sail with. OceanView Fitness Pavilion Groundbreaking

Last Thursday saw sun and blue sky, which was perfect weather for the plunging of shovels into dirt to officially mark the groundbreaking for OceanView’s new Fitness Pavilion!

In his speech, OceanView’s owner, John Wasileski, said the design and technology going into the construction of this state-of-the-art facility will make it a wonderful new addition to the campus, but it ultimately will be the residents and the staff who use it that will make it special. “It’s always been the people of the OceanView community that make it what it is, not the bricks and mortar,” John reiterated. John’s son and OceanView’s Director of Development, Chris Wasileski, echoed his father’s words in recognizing the many people who have and will continue to be involved in the development of the building.

The flag and flagpole was generously donated by resident Mabel Gerquest, in memory of her husband Peter and all OceanView veterans who are no longer with us. A well- attended event was organized to celebrate this timely donation. With OceanView resident, Bill Gatchell as Master of Ceremonies, tributes and musical performances were enjoyed by a large crowd overlooking the Whipple Farmhouse and conservation land.
