OceanView’s Annual Alzheimer’s Walk
The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, making it the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. In continuing to support this effort, Legacy Memory Care at OceanView held its 3rd annual walk on-campus last month.
OceanView’s Fitness Team mapped routes around our 80-acre campus. Utilizing wooded paths and sidewalks, participants were able to choose walks of different lengths and types of terrain, with water bottle stations along the way. Residents and staff from our independent living, assisted living and memory care communities came out to show their support.
OceanView resident Richard Barter spoke at the opening of the walk about the impact of OceanView’s Legacy Memory Care, of which Richard is a big advocate.
OceanView has currently raised over $3,500 through various fundraising events held throughout the year, including a Pancake Breakfast, Strawberry Shortcake Gathering, and a Gelato Social. We will be continuing to fundraise through the month of November, with all proceeds directly benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association’s Maine Chapter.
