It’s not uncommon to see OceanView’s residents and staff out and about taking advantage of the many walking paths throughout our wooded 80-acre campus. However, last month, in addition to getting some exercise and fresh air, our community held a walk to help raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s and dementia. The walk started at our newly expanded Legacy Memory Care residence, with options for shorter or longer routes on campus.
More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, costing the nation more than $355 billion this year, not including the 11 million Americans who provide unpaid care for affected individuals. In addition, the Covid-19 pandemic continues to have a devastating impact on this vulnerable population.
As of the time of this writing, OceanView has raised over $1,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Maine Chapter, with OceanView’s Owner, John Wasileski, once again pledging to match all employee donations.
We encourage you to support your local Alzheimer’s chapter or consider making a tax-deductible donation today. Together we will one day realize a future without Alzheimer’s and dementia!
