When Ned Swain received the call asking if he’d supply wines for the President’s March dinner to be held in Portland, he excitedly jumped at this lifetime opportunity. Choosing wines to pair with the locally-sourced food that would be served and getting to decide what the President would taste, Mr. Swain says, was an experience he’ll never forget.
Mr. Swain, a self-proclaimed wine geek, has been interested in wines for many years and his passion led him to develop Devenish Wines, right here in Maine. Committed to bringing their customers fine wines from small-production winemakers and importers, Devenish Wines believes wine should taste like where it comes from – that in some way embodies the unique climate and environment from where the grapes were produced.
This past Wednesday, OceanView was lucky enough to host a wine tasting presented by Mr.Swain. Along with the samplings of wine, tasters were treated to complementing ‘bites’ artfully prepared by our chefs at our Whipple Farm Bistro, one of three distinctive dining options here at OceanView.
Attendees raved about the wines, delicious food and Mr. Swain’s extensive knowledge and experience. Be sure to be on the lookout for our next culinary event here at OceanView!
