OceanView Celebrates 33 Years – in the Caribbean!
OceanView celebrates its anniversary every year with a themed party and special dinner. This year’s theme was “Caribbean Caper!”
The evening started in our Blueberry Commons Room, which had been transformed into an Island Paradise. Residents, many who dressed in tropical prints, enjoyed Sugarcane Shrimp Skewers and a Tropical Rum Punch. It was hard to keep your feet still with the “Pan Fried Steel Ensemble” performing fun steel drum music that added to the exotic atmosphere!
People then boarded a Pirate Ship (aka, our Main Dining Room), where they were served a Vanilla Scented Sweet Potato Soup with Curried Crab. Choice of entrees included Roast Duck Breast with Honey Passion Fruit Glaze and Plantain Fritters, Pan-Seared Sea Scallops in a Coconut Shell with Gingered Rice, and West Indies Braised Lamb Creole with Mashed Winter Squash. The voyage ended with a Rum Soaked Pineapple Upside Down Cake with Caramel Sauce and Coconut Ice Cream.
There isn’t a pirate’s chest big enough to hold the treasured memories from these past 33 years. OceanView wouldn’t be the special place that it is without our remarkable community of residents and staff, and we’re truly honored to have them aboard as we set sail into our 34th year!
