OceanView Exceeds Alzheimer’s Walk Fundraising Goal
Legacy Memory Care at OceanView held its Annual Alzheimer’s Walk right here on our beautiful 80-acre campus with its variety of wooded walking paths and trails.
A crowd of residents, staff, family and friends gathered for the Walk’s kick-off event at Lunt Auditorium. Tamera Vogel, Assisted Living Sales Consultant, welcomed participants and thanked them for coming out to help raise awareness and supporting the fight against Alzheimer’s.
Holly MacEwan gave a heartfelt and touching speech about her aunt Gail’s wonderful experience living at Legacy Memory Care and the family’s gratitude for the personalized care the staff provided every day. Holly has worked with OceanView for the past 15 years in her role as Service Learning Coordinator with Falmouth Schools, providing intergenerational programing between our residents and their students.
Throughout the year a variety of fundraising activities and events have been held, including a pancake breakfast, Italian dinner, gelato social, employee lunch, and the selling of chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine’s Day. $2,345 in donations were received the day of the walk, breaking our goal of $5,000. As of this writing, we’ve raised over $5,950 for the Maine Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and still have more fundraising events through the remainder of the year!
