In addition to getting some exercise and fresh air, our community held a walk to help raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s and dementia.
We finally were able to hold a proper Dedication Ceremony for the our new Myron & Gladys Hager Fitness Pavilion, featuring very special guest, Maine CDC Director Dr. Nirav Shah!
With our residents all vaccinated against Coronavirus, we have been happy to start reopening dining, amenities, in-person fitness classes and activities, all in accordance with Maine CDC guidelines. This week we were pleased to start offering outings, starting with a special invitation from the Children’s Museum & Theater of Maine!
Our ever-creative Activities staff decided to try hosting mini “pop-up concerts.” Held in open spaces with limited seating and performance times, these concerts allowed our residents to enjoy live music, all while remaining safety distanced.
Mabel and Didi, who have organized other artistic events for our community, had the idea to invite their fellow resident artists to get outside and make some art!
Our residents, and their tummies, look forward each year to the Annual Soup Challenge, a tasty fundraising event. With a suggested $5 donation to the OceanView Resident Assistance Fund, participants get to sample soups prepared by some of our talented chefs, and then have the tricky task of having to vote for their favorite!
Chef Chris placed third with his Potato Leek, Chef Helen came in second with her Creamy Coconut Curry Chicken & Vegetables, and Chef Tom took home the first place trophy by cooking up an incredibly delicious and creamy classic Haddock Chowder! Runners-up included Chef Betsy’s Sweet Potato & Carrot, Chef Jeff’s Hot and Sour, and Chef Mary Ann’s Chicken Tortellini.
With multiple dining venues on campus serving a selection of soups, our residents left the event knowing that they’ll have more opportunities to enjoy their favorite, as well as discover new ones.

OceanView residents, family, friends, and community members raised a glass in celebration of the completion of Falmouth House’s renovation and expansion! 10 new apartments were added, including beautiful end units with water views, walk-in closets and eating nooks. Larger, spacious floor plans were designed to meet the increasing demand for the accommodation of couples.
