At OceanView, we lean heavily towards being a green energy retirement community. In every aspect of our community, we prioritize our focus on renewable resources, recycling and composting, reusable products and energy efficiency.
In his speech, OceanView’s owner, John Wasileski, said the design and technology going into the construction of this state-of-the-art facility will make it a wonderful new addition to the campus, but it ultimately will be the residents and the staff who use it that will make it special. “It’s always been the people of the OceanView community that make it what it is, not the bricks and mortar,” John reiterated. John’s son and OceanView’s Director of Development, Chris Wasileski, echoed his father’s words in recognizing the many people who have and will continue to be involved in the development of the building.

OceanView at Falmouth harnesses New England’s abundant solar resource to attract new residents, to reduce energy costs and carbon pollution, and to provide year-round comfort in their facilities. Since 2009, they have saved more than $170,000, and eliminated over 1.4 million pounds of carbon pollution by incorporating solar into the retirement community.

Cumberland Crossing by OceanView is officially under construction after a groundbreaking ceremony attended by developers, town officials and project stakeholders. Located at the center of Cumberland, the retirement community will be a sister location to OceanView at Falmouth. Read more

At the request of our residents, we are excited to announce that our heated four-season pool has been upgraded with a salt water treatment system! Salt water pools offer a more convenient sanitization method over chlorine, with the salt only needing to be replenished after heavy splash out or drainage, and can be done while the pool remains open. Continuing in line with OceanView’s Commitment to Sustainability, a new Electric Vehicle Charger has been installed on our campus, powered by solar energy. Barry Woods, Director of Electric Vehicle Innovation at ReVision Energy, says, “As we continue to see more electric vehicles come on the roads, there will be a real need to provide infrastructure to accommodate the increasing need for charging stations. Maine also has the highest usage of oil per capita than any other state, so finding energy alternatives is crucial in chipping-away at that number. Between all the solar installations and now this vehicle charger, OceanView really is ahead of the curve.” Read more
